The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment – Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (DOLE-TUPAD), officially launched the 20-day Cash-for-Training-and-Work (CFTW) implementation of the Risk Resiliency Program (RRP)βs Project LAWA at BINHI on June 11, 2025, in the municipalities of Magsaysay, Rizal, Calintaan, Sablayan, and Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro.
The rollout began with a one-day learning session on climate action and social welfare, followed by DOLE-TUPAD orientation and contract signing for 499 partner-beneficiaries.
Participants will engage in 18 days of community work, concluding with a sustainability planning session and project turnover on the 20th day.
The RRP emphasizes “partner-beneficiaries” as active contributorsβnot passive recipientsβaddressing climate- and disaster-related vulnerabilities while providing temporary livelihood support.
Project LAWA (Local Adaptation to Water Access) focuses on water-related initiatives such as constructing small farm reservoirs, restoring lakes, and rehabilitating irrigation systems. Project BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency Through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) supports food security through rice and vegetable production, including the establishment of communal and school-based gardens.
