In celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2025, the DSWD Field Office MIMAROPA, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), successfully conducted a webinar series on July 11, 2025, aimed at boosting disaster preparedness and response in the region.

The virtual learning sessions featured expert-led discussions, starting with a comprehensive overview of the Meteorological Weather System by Dra. Esperanza O. Cayanan. This was followed by a deep dive into the Roles and Responsibilities of Regional and Provincial Quick Response Teams (R/PQRTs), led by Lorenzo III V. Mangco.

In the afternoon an Orientation on DROMIC Reporting Guidelines and Protocols was conducted, highlighting the value of timely and accurate disaster data and a crash course on Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and Internally Displaced Persons Protection (IDPP)β€”essential for managing evacuation sites and ensuring the safety of displaced individuals.

This activity supports the 2025 NDRM with the theme: “KUMIKILOS: Kayang Umaksyon ng Mamamayan, Isabuhay ang Kahandaan ng Bawat Isa para Maging Ligtas sa Oras ng Sakuna.”

DSWD MIMAROPA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of preparedness, responsiveness, and resilience across communities in the region. By actively engaging local stakeholders, equipping disaster response teams with updated knowledge and practical skills, and promoting community-based strategies, the Field Office continues to play a vital role in strengthening the region’s capacity to respond to and recover from emergencies.

As the frequency and intensity of disasters increase due to the impacts of climate change, DSWD MIMAROPA remains steadfast in its efforts to empower every citizen, local government unit, and partner organization to act proactively and collaboratively. Through sustained initiatives like this webinar series, the agency envisions safer, more adaptive communities that are not only ready to face hazards but also capable of bouncing back stronger.
