Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro – On September 12, 2021 a fire incident happened in Barangay Sabang. According to the report of Bureau of Fire Protection Puerto Galera, the fire incident took place at around 4:00 in the morning.

This incident was allegedly started in a diving resort which is surrounded by residential areas and business establishments. At around 5:53 am the fire was under control and declared fire-out.

A total of 20 houses made of light materials were raged in the said fire incident resulting to displacement of 20 families composed of 68 individuals that are now temporarily staying in their relatives.

ACTIONS TAKEN

• To support the immediate needs of the affected families, the SWADT Oriental Mindoro provided food and non-food items composed of 20 Family Food Packs, 20 Sleeping kits, 20 Hygiene kits and 20 Family kits.
• The LGU of Puerto Galera already provided relief assistance composed of 40 Food Packs and 40 Hygiene kits.
• The MSWDO conducted intake interview and provided Psychosocial Support and stress debriefing to the affected families.
• The affected families are recommended by the SWADT Oriental Mindoro to be provided with financial assistance thru AICS.
