MIMAROPA, Philippines (April 5, 2024) – The ongoing climate crisis in the provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon and Palawan has intensified, leading to a significant increase in humanitarian aid efforts to assist the affected communities.
Recent updates reveal a notable increase in the humanitarian aid being distributed. An additional amount of ₱1,702,800.00 has been allocated from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which will have a significant impact on the scale of support being provided to the affected population.
In total, ₱4,886,100 worth of food assistance has been provided by the DSWD, while other agencies have channeled an additional ₱5,000,000.00 in order to meet the immediate needs of those who are suffering from this crisis.
Despite these efforts from DSWD and the Local Government Units, thousands of families continue to endure the harsh impact of El Niño as it persists.
In view of the continuing crisis, authorities stress the need for continued support and cooperation in order to alleviate suffering and guarantee the well being of those affected.
