Lumangbayan, Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro โ€“ Partner-beneficiaries of Project BINHI (Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) in Barangayย

Lumangbayan have successfully harvested their first yield of vegetables, earning a total of Php1,860.00 during the first week of May 2025.

Prior to harvest, partner-beneficiaries completed a 20-day CFTW last April 16, 2025 and look forward to sustaining an established Communal Vegetable Garden under the guidance and assistance of the Barangay of Lumangbayan, and Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Santa Cruz.ย

Through Project BINHI, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) now witnesses the fruitful harvest of what was once a seed of hopeโ€”yielding not just crops, but nourishment, empowerment, and strengthened community resilience. It stands as a testament to what can flourish when people are nurtured with care, purpose, and collective commitment.

Project LAWA at BINHI, a flagship initiative of the DSWD, aligns with the directive of Secretary Rex Gatchalian to implement sustainable and practical solutions in response to ongoing water and food shortages exacerbated by the El Niรฑo and La Niรฑa phenomena.ย
