To strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure better protection for internally displaced persons (IDPs), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office MIMAROPA, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and IDP Protection from May 26 to 30, 2025, at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Makati City.

The training was organized to equip Local Government Unit (LGU) representatives with the knowledge and skills needed to manage evacuation camps and serve as resource speakers for future CCCM training across the MIMAROPA Region.

This 5-day training aimed to capacitate participants with technical expertise on the proper management of evacuation and displacement sites in line with core humanitarian principles and standard operating procedures. The ultimate goal was to strengthen the region’s ability to respond to emergencies by preparing LGU representatives to provide localized, context-specific support in their respective provinces.

A total of 19 participants from LGUs across the MIMAROPA Region took part in the training. These included two delegates from Oriental Mindoro, three from Occidental Mindoro, two from Marinduque, three from Romblon, and nine from Palawan, which reflects a strong regional effort to build local capacity and preparedness for disaster situations involving displacement.

The sessions were facilitated by a team of experienced resource persons from both the national and regional levels of DSWD, and their insights and guidance helped participants gain a deeper understanding of CCCM concepts, operational tools, and best practices.

Through this initiative, DSWD MIMAROPA reaffirms its commitment to building a disaster-resilient region by enhancing local government capacity, ensuring the safety and dignity of displaced individuals, and promoting effective humanitarian response throughout the region.
